The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneers came from behind on Saturday to hand the Rhodes Women's Soccer Team their 1st loss of the season by a score of 2-1 at Rhodes. Jessie Cassidy gave the Lynx an early lead but CBU's Elin Svavarsdottir scored two goals to give the Bucs the win.
Senior forward Jessie Cassidy put the Lynx ahead by taking the ball off a CBU defender and slipping it past the keeper in the 5th minute of the game but, just 5 minutes before half time CBU drew level when Elin Svavarsdottir broke free of the Lynx defense and finished her first goal of the game.
Three minutes into the second half Svarvarsdottir struck again with a shot from outside the penalty area that was aided into the Lynx goal by the strong wind that blew across the field at Rhodes.
Rhodes falls to 3-1-1 in 1008 and face 9th ranked Emory University on Sunday, September 14 at 1:00pm at Rhodes.
