9/13/2008 1:04:42 PM

The Lynx started off strong with two goals in the first 10 minutes of play and were able to hold off the Tigers for the 3-1 win.  The game was the SCAC opener for the Lynx who are now 5-0 (1-0 SCAC).  Sophomore Lindsey Gurkovich led off the scoring on an unassisted goal just 4 minutes into play.  Her goal was followed by one by junior Callie Borgman, just 6 minutes later on an assist from Hillary Relyea

Sewanee battled back and scored with 15 minutes left to play in the second half but Rhodes' Chelsea McLeod scored the insurance goal wih 5 minutes left on the clock.  The Lynx benefited from great midfield play by Charlie Wagner, Libby Feaster, and Morgan Jane Mischer.  Sweeper Laura Deines and goalkeeper Meghan Cullen led a defense that allowed only the one goal on 11 shots by the Tigers.  Rhodes looks forward to Sunday's contest at Transylvania at Noon (EST).
