The Lynx softball team defeated Maranatha Baptist Bible College 15-0 and 8-2 on Tuesday afternoon.  In game 1, Senior Dana Bartolomei tossed her second consecutive shutout, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 11 in 5 innings of work. Freshman Allison Conn was 3-3 and sophomore Rebekah Moore was 3-3 with a Home Run and 6 RBI.  In game 2, Freshman Sara Bowen picked up her first collegiate win, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 12 in 7 innings of work. Senior Savannah Deaton was 2-4 and Sophomore Colleen Jones was 2-2 with a double, triple, and 3 RBI.

Allison Conn led off the game for the Lynx with a single, advancing to second on an errant throw to the cutoff.  Amanda Lutzy then laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Conn, but the throw to first got away from the Crusader first baseman, allowing Lutzy to reach base and Conn to score.  Rebekah Moore then smashed her second home run of the season to give the Lynx a quick 3-0 lead.  Sara Bowen would then single, and later score on a wild pitch to round out the Lynx scoring in the 1st. 

The Lynx added 4 more runs in the second, paced by singles by Conn, Moore, and Armanda Venezia.  Rhodes would score 6 runs on 2 hits in the 3rd, aided by 2 Crusader errors, giving the Lynx a 14-0 lead after three frames.  The Lynx added their final run in the 4th on an RBI double by Olivia Ryan, giving the Lynx a 15-0 lead.

Dana Bartolomei tossed her second consecutive shutout, giving up just 1 hit and striking out 11, bringing her season record to 3-0.

In game 2, Rhodes scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings, leading to the 8-2 win.  Savannah Deaton and Colleen Jones each had a pair of hits in the game, with Jones picking up 3 RBI.  Sara Bowen picked up her first collegiate win, giving up just 1 earned run on 2 hits while striking out 11.

The Lynx are now 5-1 and will play Blackburn College (IL) on Thursday at 4:30pm.
