At the SCAC Championships last weekend, Rhodes men's swimming made a powerful impression on their competition. They faced fierce competition in the conference, but were still able to place swimmers in the top 16 of nearly every event. In addition, they broke four school records:
200 Freestyle Relay – J. Tate, T. Schultz, H. Scarborough, M. Lallemand (1:28.26)
400 Freestyle Relay – M. Lallemand, P. Smith, H. Scarborough, J. Tate (3:18.33)
800 Freestyle Relay – D. Wagstaff, P. Smith, J. Tate, J. Berger (7:27.02)
400 IM – Pieter Smith (4:16.12)
200 Butterfly – Pieter Smith (1:59.55)
Jarrett Tate '11 swam the 50 Freestyle in 21.25 seconds, narrowly missing the NCAA Nationals cut. He will attempt the swim again at an upcoming “last-chance” meet. Freshman Drew Wagstaff finished a close second in the 1650 freestyle, and senior Michael Lallemand ended his Rhodes career with personal bests in all of his events. The men finished in 6th place overall.
