Rhodes was able to keep their SCAC momentum going against Birmingham Southern College on Friday during a windy Memphis afternoon. However, since BSC is reclassifying from Division I to Division III, the result does not count toward SCAC play.
The Lynx were able to find the lead 4 minutes before the half, when Junior Defender
Joey Madere headed in a corner kick served in from Senior Captain
Jarrett Carpenter. The goal was Madere's first of the year.
Senior Captain
Patrick Deveau would increase the lead in the 52nd minute, when the BSC goalkeeper was unable to hold on to the shot. Deveau's goal was assisted by Sophomore
Nick Bailey. Andrew Shelton would close the gap for BSC 10 minutes later. However, the Lynx were able to subdue the Panther attack and hold on for the victory. The Lynx improve to 11-6-1. Senior goalkeeper
Alex Margolin made 5 saves in the victory.
Rhodes is back in action on Sunday when Millsaps College travels to Memphis. This year's seniors will be honored before the game at noon.
