The Lynx jumped out to an early start in today's shutout over Transylvania with Callie Borgman scoring the game winner just 49 seconds into play. Lindsey Gurkovich followed just two and a half minutes later on an assist from Libby Feaster. The third goal of the day was scored by Sarah Kennedy, a first year midfielder from Dallas, TX. Charlie Wagner led a strong and well organized effort from the midfield, and Hillary Relyea helped form the attack from the front line with skillful one on one play. Maria Cowley opened the second half scoring with a penalty corner strike on an assist from Lindsey Gurkovich, who scored the Lynx final tally on a fast break assist from Callie Borgman. While the offensive output (33 shots and 13 corners) was the best it's been this season the Rhodes defense held a tough Transy team to only 6 shots and 2 penalty corners. Defenders Maria Cowley, Laura Deines, Claire Mantovani, Sara Sanders, and Sarah Crowley had tremendous efforts today. Goal keepers Meghan Cullen and Valerie Clarke combined for the shutout with a total of six saves. The Lynx (7-1, 1-1 SCAC) will face conference opponent Transy Sunday (10/5) at Noon.
