The #10 ranked Rhodes Women's Soccer team lost a tight game to the #11 ranked Washington University Bears in St. Louis by a score of 1-0. The Bears scored in the 1st minute of the game and held on to hand the Lynx their 3rd loss of the season.
An unusual start time of 9:30 am proved to be too early for the Lynx because by 9:31 am the Bears' Caryn Rosoff had already given Washington University the goal they would need to defeat Rhodes for the 7th time in the last 9 meetings between the teams.
Rhodes had several good chances throughout the game to potentially pull level including a shot wide by Diana Buss, a shot cleared off the goal line from Alice Hilgart and a shot by Ashley Ladd that was saved by the Wash U keeper. None, however, found the back of the net and the Lynx lost for the third time in 2008.
Both teams put 6 shots on goal while the Lynx earned 7 corners to Wash U's 3.
Rhodes falls to 10-3-1 and will face Maryville University in St. Louis on Sunday, October 25, 2008 at 12:00 noon.
