Memphis, Tennessee ~ Rhodes College Men's basketball couldn't overcome a slow shooting first half against Birmingham Southern College.  The Lynx shot 29.6% in the first stanza and fell behind at halftime 36-23.  With the score tied 13-13 at the 13 minute mark of the first half, the Lynx went cold and got outscored 20-5 over the next 12 minutes.  The second half was better for Rhodes, who cut the lead to five points with 13 minutes to play and were as close as 2 points with just under 11 to play. A timeout by Birmingham Southern, preceded an 11-3 run over the next five minutes and pushed the lead to double digits.

On the night, the Lynx were led in scoring by junior Cory Smith (Bartlett, TN) with 13 points.  Also scoring in double digits were Joe Thompson (Nashville, TN) and Jared Hoskins (Rossville, GA), each scoring 11 points.

With the loss the Lynx dropped to 5-6 overall, losing four straight contests.  The Lynx are in action again on Tuesday afternoon against University of Dallas with 4pm tipoff in Mallory Gymnasium.  The Lynx are then at home for SCAC action against DePauw and Centre on Friday, January 11th and Sunday, January 13th.  Tipoffs for those contests are 8pm and 3pm respectively.
