Memphis, Tennessee ~ Rhodes College snapped a five game losing streak with an 88-72 win over visiting Colorado College. The meeting was the first ever between Colorado College and Rhodes. With the win, Rhodes moves it's record to 7-11 overall and 2-6 in the SCAC.
Rhodes started the game with a 12-0 run and never looked back. In the first half the Lynx shot 47% from the field but an even better 54% from the 3pt line. Sophomore Jared Hoskins (Rossville, GA) was 5 of 7 in the first half and led the Lynx with 15 first half points. In the second half, the Lynx would shoot 46% from the field and 50% from behind the arc and stretched its lead to as many as 29 points. Cory Smith (Bartlett, TN) scored 19 points in the second half, including a monstrous dunk that sent the crowd into a frenzy. On the afternoon, the Lynx placed four players in double digits. Smith led the way with a game high 24, Hoskins netted 23, and senior Joe Thompson (Nashville, TN) scored 10 points as well as adding 7 rebounds and dishing out a game high 5 assists. The Lynx also had two guys grab double digit rebounds, as sophomore Reid Hamilton (Birmingham, AL) scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and senior Justin Long (Little Rock, AR) grabbed 10 rebounds. Rhodes also dished out a season high 20 assists in the win.
The Lynx are back in action this weekend as they head to Jackson, Mississippi to play Millsaps College on Friday, February 1st. Then over to Conway, Arkansas to take on Hendrix College on Sunday, February 3rd.
