The Rhodes men's swimming team defeated the Lambuth University men on Saturday, January 12. Buoyed by home-team supporters, the team was able to maintain their focus and display their abilities in all events.
Freshman Tyler Schultz swam an excellent meet, winning the 100 free in 52.46 seconds (his best time so far this season) and swimming 24.03 in the 50 Free for a close second-place finish. He was also an essential part of the 200 Freestyle relay (1:33.64). Gavin Franks '09 showed a strong effort in the 100 Breaststroke, being closely out-touched by a Lambuth swimmer but finishing in a 1:13.58. Drew Wagstaff maintained his usual fast pace in the distance events, winning both the 1000 and 500 Freestyles. Says Coach Jon Duncan: “The men's team is coming along well; they are all developing their individual strengths as swimmers.”
This Saturday, the men will travel to Arkansas to compete against Henderson State University.
