1st Half Shooting Woes Continue as DePauw Defeats Rhodes

1/11/2008 10:31:13 PM

Memphis, Tennessee ~ The first half shooting woes continued to plague Rhodes College as they shot 23% in the first half of their SCAC contest tonight in Mallory Gymnasium.  DePauw on the other hand was hot from the field.  The Tigers were 46% from the field and 50% from the three point line in the first half on their way to building a commanding 42-20 half time lead.  With the scored tied 2-2 with just over 2 minutes passed in the first half, the lid was placed on the basket for the Lynx.  Over the next five minutes, Rhodes was unable to score and fell behind 20-2 before a free throw by Jared Hoskins (Rossville, GA) ended the drought.

The second half was better for the Lynx.  Rhodes shot 45% from the field and was able to score, but the deficit was just to much to overcome.  On the night the Lynx were led in scoring by Cory Smith (Bartlett, TN) with 16 points and got another 10 points from Joe Thompson (Nashville, TN).  On the boards, Reid Hamilton (Birmingham, AL) grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Lynx are back in action against Centre College on Sunday for an afternoon tilt at Mallory Gymnasium.  Tip off is scheduled for 3 pm.
