The Lynx beat Transy today 3-1 at home to move to 4-2 on the season and 3-0 in region while Transy drops to 1-4 on the year.
The Lynx got off to a good start today out shooting the Pioneers 18 - 0 in the first half but had trouble finding the back of the goal. The scoring got started by Lynx senior Jenny Mueller, with a finish off the goalie pads on far post just 10 minutes into second half play. Transy tied the score on a goal by Meaghan Linker on the far post on the Pioneers lone offensive penalty corner. The Lynx rallied as Transy continued to pressure with a breakaway goal by freshman Erin Atmar with 9 minutes to play. The Lynx scored their final goal with 5 minutes to play on a penalty corner, senior Katie Slimp put the ball in on the far post on an assist from freshman Claire Mantovani.
For the game the Lynx held an 11 - 1 advantage in penalty corners and out shot the Pioneers 29 - 7. Transy's Megan Blandford recorded 14 saves for the game while Rhodes' Meghan Cullen recorded 6 second half saves for the Lynx. Rhodes will open conference play next weekend when they face Centre (Saturday 9/22, 11 am) and Sewanee (Sunday 9/23, 3 pm) at home.
