Cross Country Women 10th at Rhodes Invitational

Team captain May King led the Lynx for the second time in as many meets at the Rhodes Invitational at Plough Park in Memphis. King placed 28th out of 177 runners, leading the squad to a 10th place finish out of 22 complete teams. Arkansas' Harding University placed 5 runners in the top 20 to win the meet with 56 points. Arkansas Tech's Aoife Cooke, a sophomore from Ireland, won the meet with an impressive 17:43 on the rolling 5,000 meter course.

King ran 19:46 to lead the team, her fastest time on Rhodes' home course by 49 seconds. The senior has improved each year at the meet; her freshman year she ran a time of 21:25. Lizzie Phillips returned to action after a brief layoff, running 20:19 to place 51st as the Lynx second runner. Courtney Cockerell was next for Rhodes at 57th place with a time of 20:28. Rachel Simpson ran a collegiate best time of 20:37 to place 63rd overall, which placed her a career-best fourth on the team. Sara LaPlante finished the scoring by placing 66th in 20:41. Nici Thomas and Jessye Bobinis rounded out the Lynx top seven by placing 67th and 76th, respectively.
