The Lynx opened the season at Sewanee, finishing 2nd of 17 teams, behind Emory University and ahead of Centre College. Sophomore Jennifer Emo led the team with her 6th place finish out of 155 competitors. Her time of 19:31 was a 42-second improvement from her last performance on Sewanee's course in 2003. Emo was followed closely by teammates Nicole Goette and Lizzie Phillips. Goette was 9th in 19:39, while Phillips placed 11th in 19:57. Phillips' effort marked her first time under 20 minutes in cross country and represented a full 2-minute improvement from her 2003 race at Sewanee. Nici Thomas and Courtney Cockerell finished the scoring for the Lynx, placing 16th in 20:22 and 23rd in 20:41, respectively. Katie Selby and Nora Fischer rounded out the Lynx top 7, placing 26th and 30th overall. All 16 Lynx athletes finished in the meet's top half.
