Marie Brandewiede led a partial Rhodes group, as the women's cross country team finished 8th out of 17 teams at the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University. Vanderbilt won the team competition with 27 points. Rhodes was the best non-NCAA division I team at the meet. Belmont's Christy Csorna won the race with a time of 18:52.
Team-wide illness slowed the Lynx, as Brandewiede was the front runner on a squad of just 6 Rhodes athletes at Vanderbilt. The team captain took 22nd in 20:22. Senior Cheryl Finster was next at 39th place in 21:05. May King was 69th in 22:19, Caroline Owens was 76th in 22:43, and Lizzie Phillips was Rhodes' final scorer with an 81st place finish in 22:57. Abbey Walker finished 106th overall as the Lynx 6th runner at the meet.
