Rhodes Women Finish Fourth at Sewanee Invitational



Led by Marie Brandewiede's 4th place individual finish, the Rhodes women's cross country team took 4th out of 13 competing teams at the University of the South Invitational (held at the Sewanee golf course). Emory University won the meet with 43 points, while Mississippi State (68), Centre (82), Rhodes (84), and the University of the South (164) rounded out the top 5 teams. Agnes Scott's Phyllis Tuggle captured the individual victory with a time of 18:15



Team captain Brandewiede improved upon her time from the same meet last season by 36 seconds; the senior from St. Louis, Missouri, ran the course in 19:08, her fastest-ever finish at the Sewanee course. In her first collegiate cross country race, senior Cheryl Finster also cracked the meet's Top-10, racing to a time of 20:03 for 10th place. Freshman Jennifer Emo was 14th (20:13), May King was 30th (21:26), and Caroline Owens was 33rd (21:46). Lizzie Phillips and Abbey Walker rounded out Rhodes' top 7, as they took 35th and 57th in the meet, respectively.
