Captain Amy Paine led the Rhodes women's cross country team, as they took fifth place overall at the Commodore Classic at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The Lynx were the top non-division I school at the meet, taking four out of the top five non-division I individual spots. Vanderbilt University won the team competition, followed by Belmont in second, Southeast Missouri in third, and Louisville in fourth. Seventeen teams competed. Vanderbilt's Rachel Rogers was the women's individual winner in 18:14 on the wet and hilly Vaughn's Creek Course at Percy Warner Park.
Paine demonstrated strong hill running ability over the second half of the course, as she led the Lynx for the second time this season. The Moultrie, Georgia native ran her streak of top-ten finishes to three, as her 19:15 earned her 9th place in the 142-runner field. Track All-American Marie Brandewiede finished right on Paine's heels, running 19:20 for 11th overall. She bettered her previous best on the Vanderbilt course by a whopping 79 seconds. Captain Elizabeth Wester was Rhodes' number-three woman, taking 14th place in 19:33. Freshman Haley McConaghy ran 20:35 for 43rd place, as the Lynx fourth runner. Senior Lauren Glas rebounded from an early-season injury to earn the team's final scoring spot, taking 65th in 21:25. May King and Abbey Walker rounded out the Lynx top seven in 76th and 84th.
