Rhodes Women Win Home Opener

The one-two finish of junior Marie Brandewiede and senior Amy Paine paced the Rhodes women's cross country team to victory in the King Cat Invitational at Plough Park. Murray State took second place in the team scoring, followed by the University of Tennessee at Martin in third, and Christian Brothers University in fourth. The University of Memphis and Mississippi College also competed.

Brandewiede aced the challenging two-mile course in 11:42, followed immediately by Paine in 11:44. Freshmen Haley McConaghy and May King began their college careers in fine fashion, snaring 10th and 11th places in 12:49 and 13:02, respectively. Senior Elizabeth Wester took the fifth and final scoring position with her 13:15 finish, good for 15th place. Lauren Glas and Abbey Walker rounded out the Lynx top seven, running to 16th and 19th place finishes.
