Senior Brian McCarthy finished 15th at the Border States Championship meet, hosted by Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He was Rhodes' lone representative at the race. McCarthy missed the Rhodes Invitational last weekend due to law school entrance exams, so the Edwardsville meet gave him the opportunity to fine tune his racing fitness as the post-season approaches. Fifteen teams and 158 runners took part in the meet, which was won by Division II Emporia State University. McCarthy posted his fastest time of the season on the hilly course, as he finished 2nd among Division III runners. McKendree College's Arava Haregot won the race in 25:09.
