With the conclusion of the ITA regionals on Saturday, Freshman
Eliot Blatt lost in the third round to the #2 seed 6-1, 6-1. He had a very strong showing and looked very impressive in his first collegiate level tournament.
The team's only senior,
Sanders Phelps, ended a great 4-year run at ITA's by winning the backdraw. He defeated a tough Oglethorpe player in the finals, 9-7 in a very tight back and forth match.
Graham Sowden lost in the consolation bracket to a strong player from Milsaps but overall had a solid tournament. In the doubles Graham and partner
Greyson Brilliant lost in the consolation semifinals.
Kevin Sierra and
Alex Frye were the only Rhodes doubles team to win a main draw doubles match, winning 8-4 in their first round. In the second round the two Lynx just didn't have enough firepower to hit through the quick Emory duo. It was a good learning experience as both players realized they could compete at the highest level.
The Rhodes team will begin their offseason lifting and conditioning. Getting more fit will be a major priority of the entire team and is necessary to take their games to the next level.
