Claire Cordua '13 shares her story of surviving a stroke and having plans to play on the Rhodes volleyball team this fall.
The story begins, “It was a carefree summer day last July as
Claire Cordua headed to the beach with her boyfriend near her hometown of San Diego, Calif. But, as she drove down the road, that all quickly changed for the rising freshman women′s volleyball player that would soon be attending Rhodes College.”
After being rushed to the hospital, Cordua was treated with clot-busting drugs and she was able to escape major brain surgery. After the initial scare, the recovery began but Cordua′s muscles weakened. This was not good news for a student-athlete.
The NCAA feature goes on to tell what happened and the strides made by Cordua.
