Lynx Down Golden Eagles

Behind a 5-hit shutout from Chelsea Peters, Rhodes knocked off Division II Minnesota-Crookston 3-0 in the second game of their Spring Break trip in Cocoa Beach, FL.  Peters struck out 6, did not walk a batter and did not allow a Golden Eagle runner to reach third base en route to her 4th shutout of the season.  Rebekah Moore was 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Lynx offense.

Rhodes picked up a run in the top of the 4th due to some fortunate circumstances.  After Moore singled to right, Sara Bowen singled down the right field line, but was caught in a rundown between 1st and 2nd.  Pinch-runner Carly Evans had adanced to third on the hit and was able to score as Bowen was tagged out.

The Lynx added to the lead in the 6th when Allison Conn delivered a 2-out single,  advanced to second on a passed ball, then scored on an RBI single from Moore.  Rhodes' final run came in the top of the 7th when Olivia Ryan led off with a single, advanced to second on a SAC bunt from Armanda Venezia, advanced to third on a groundout by Katie Stich, then scored when Jennifer Whatley's line drive skipped past the Golden Eagle third baseman.

Peters improves to 7-2 on the season, already matching her win total from last season.  Rhodes is now 14-4 and returns to action at 5:00pm Monday against Mt. Ida.
